Vegetarian version of these typical Chinese appetizers. Try them also in a warm soup or ramen… delicious!
Ingredients (for 2)
- 8 wonton wrappers
- 1/2 spring onion
- 2 cups fresh green cabbage
- 1 carrot
- 1/2 tbsp rice wine
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- salt & black pepper
Directions
- In a large bowl combine all ingredients for the filling: chopped (or julienned) carrots, shredded cabbage, thinly sliced green onions, salt, fish sauce, sesame oil, rice wine (sake or Chinese one) and white pepper
- Stir well and refrigerate for 15 minutes
- Lay out the wrappers and add the filling (1 full tablespoon for each wrapper), placing it in the center of the wrapper
- Fold the dumpling over to form a half-moon shape
- Finish by closing and sealing the dumpling with your index and thumb, by pressing the edges; repeat for each dumpling
- Steam the dumplings in your (bamboo) steamer for 6-8 minutes and enjoy!

Chinese sweet and sour sauce or your favorite dipping sauce
Tips from the Chef
- Do not overfill the dumplings or they will not close properly
- Place some parchment paper on the bottom of your steamer for better results
