Meatballs are a staple in every family worldwide and always popular with the kids… Finally you can have a Japanese variation!
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 cups ground turkey
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp wheat flour
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 cup of water
Directions
- Take a deep saucepan and bring the water to a boil
- In the meantime, in a large bowl beat the eggs and stir in 1/3 of the soy sauce, 1/3 of sugar and wheat flour
- Add the ground turkey (or chicken) and mix well to combine
- Once you have worked the mixture into a well blended meatball, shape it into small balls with your hands
- Drop the meatballs into the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes
- Then add the remaining sugar, soy sauce and mirin and keep cooking for 5-7 minutes at medium heat, covered with a lid
- When the water has reduced into a nice thick sauce, transfer the meatballs in the pan, coat them well with their juices and stir fry for a couple of minutes
- Arrange on your serving plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds

Tips from the Chef
- You can use ground chicken or prepare your preferred variety of ground meat at home
- Do not shape the meatballs too big or they will not cook through
