Tuna Fillet in Sesame Crust

A super easy recipe for your fresh tuna fillets, very popular in original upscale Italian restaurants!

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 2 fresh tuna fillets (about 5-6 oz. each)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tsp sesame oil

Directions

  • Mix in a small bowl the mustard with the sesame oil (you can use olive oil instead if not available)
  • Brush the tuna with the oil mixture on all sides
  • Roll the tuna on the sesame seeds and coat evenly
  • Bring a nonstick pan or skillet to high heat
  • Add the tuna fillet and cook at high temperature for 3-4 minutes, turning it over a couple of times
  • When the tuna fillet has a nice crust outside, remove from heat and let it cool for 1-2 minutes
  • Slice it and arrange it on your serving platter with your favorite sauce

Best Served With

Asparagus or baby spinach

Tips from the Chef

  • Use sashimi-like fresh tuna fillets for best results
  • The tuna must be almost burned on the outside, so that the sesame seeds create a nice crust, but raw on the inside
