Tahini Paste

The Tahini paste is a delicious paste made with sesame seeds. It can be used as ingredient in hummus paste or as dipping or side for bread and meat… very popular in Middle Eastern cuisine.

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil


  • Preheat the oven to 400 °F (190 °C)
  • Take a baking sheet or flat pan and spread out sesame seeds evenly
  • Bake in oven for 4-5 minutes, but paying attention not to brown the seeds
  • Remove from oven and add to a food processor with a few drops of vegetable (or olive) oil
  • Pulse and add a few more drops of oil
  • Continue until you get a smooth paste

Tips from the Chef

  • You can use extra-virgin olive oil for a more robust flavor
  • Can be stored in the fridge for one week
