Stir Fried Sesame Chicken

Sesame Chicken is a staple in Chinese restaurants all over the world. Stir frying the chicken is a healthier choice, but you can also deep fry and pour over the sauce (reduced for 5 minutes over medium heat) and the sesame seeds just before serving for extra crunchiness

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  • Cut the chicken breast into strips and set them aside
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, add the chicken strips and stir fry at medium heat for 5 minutes
  • In the meantime, whisk together water, soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, corn starch and a few drops of sesame oil
  • Once the ingredients are well blended, pour the sauce over the chicken, cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds just before serving

Best Served With

A bed of rice and your favorite vegetables on the side

Tips from the Chef

  • For extra flavor, you can toast the sesame seeds for a few minutes over low heat, before adding them to the chicken
  • For a thicker sauce, increase heat and cook uncovered
