Sesame Chicken is a staple in Chinese restaurants all over the world. Stir frying the chicken is a healthier choice, but you can also deep fry and pour over the sauce (reduced for 5 minutes over medium heat) and the sesame seeds just before serving for extra crunchiness…
Ingredients (for 2)
- 1 chicken breast
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Cut the chicken breast into strips and set them aside
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, add the chicken strips and stir fry at medium heat for 5 minutes
- In the meantime, whisk together water, soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, corn starch and a few drops of sesame oil
- Once the ingredients are well blended, pour the sauce over the chicken, cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds just before serving

Tips from the Chef
- For extra flavor, you can toast the sesame seeds for a few minutes over low heat, before adding them to the chicken
- For a thicker sauce, increase heat and cook uncovered
