Southern Fried Chicken

The Southern fried chicken has become a part of America’s culinary heritage. More than a traditional dish, a real US legend.

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 2 chicken thighs
  • 4 chicken wings
  • 1/3 cup lard
  • 1tsp Red Tabasco Sauce
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • salt & black pepper

Directions

  • Wash and clean the chicken pieces and dry them with the help of paper towels
  • Heat the fat (you can use vegetable oil rather than lard) to 190 C° degrees (375 F°) in a heavy skillet
  • Mix the remaining ingredients (excluding Tabasco) in a brown paper bag
  • Place the chicken pieces in the bag a few at a time and shake until they are well coated
  • Place the chicken pieces in the hot fat and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure that they are golden brown and crisp on all sides
  • Remove the chicken from the fat and drain on paper towels
  • Serve hot with the Tabasco sauce
