Boost your grilled rump steak with a special aromatic butter made with oregano and thyme. Ancient Greeks would be proud of you!
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 rump steaks (about 14 oz or 400 gr)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove
- salt and black pepper
Directions
- First prepare the aromatic butter: finely chop the fresh oregano and fresh thyme leaves and, with a wooden spoon, mix in the butter adding salt and minced garlic
- Spoon the mixture onto a sheet of grease−proof paper in a log shape, fold one side of the paper over roll, then with your hands give it a smooth log shape
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes
- Brush each steak with oil, season with salt and pepper to taste and pan fry or grill until cooked as desired
- Serve the meat with a slice of the aromatic butter on top so that it will start to melt!

Tips from the Chef
- Thyme and oregano butter can be made a day ahead and stored covered in your refrigerator
- You can also use bay leaves in the aromatic butter
