Prawn Pakora

Mouth-watering Indian starter, ready in no time, and an excellent finger food for your parties… Can easily become a main dish by doubling the stated quantities.

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1 cup shrimps / prawns (about 5 oz.)
  • 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander / cilantro
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • oil for frying
  • salt


  • Peel and devein the prawns, and put them aside
  • Combine flour, garam masala powder, lemon juice, coriander (chopped) and a pinch of salt in a bowl, add some water and mix well to get a thick batter
  • Heat oil in a large skillet
  • Dip the prawns in the batter, drop them gently in the frying oil and cook until golden brown (around 3-4 minutes)
  • Remove the prawns from the pan with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil
