Potato gratin, very popular in France, is easy to prepare and a good side for many dishes. It is a baked mixture of cooking cream and potatoes….
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 large potatoes
- 4 tbsp cooking cream
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- salt & black pepper
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C)
- Grease a baking pan with butter and set aside
- Using a mandoline, thinly slice potatoes lengthwise and place them in a large bowl
- Add the cooking cream, season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine
- Lay potatoes slice by slice in the baking pan
- Pour remaining cream over and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese on top
- Bake until golden brown and potatoes are tender, about 45 minutes
Tips from the Chef
- You can add more cheese to the potato mixture (ricotta cheese is the best!) and some nutmeg to boost the taste
- Use white pepper, if available
