Mozzarella Caprese

Quick, fresh, healthy and tasty: originated in the Italian island of Capri, the perfect appetizer for your summer meals!

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 salad tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & black pepper


  • Drain the mozzarella from its water and cut it in slices; lay the slices on a serving platter
  • Wash, deseed and cut the tomatoes in slices, like the mozzarella
  • Lay the slices of tomatoes on top of the mozzarella
  • Wash and chop the fresh basil leaves with your hands and sprinkle on top of the tomatoes
  • Drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil
  • Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper and serve

Tips from the Chef

  • Use only fresh basil and premium quality extravirgin olive oil
  • For a different presentation, you can use toothpicks and skewer one tomato and one piece of mozzarella cheese on each toothpick
  • Try it with buffalo mozzarella for a different twist
