Quick, fresh, healthy and tasty: originated in the Italian island of Capri, the perfect appetizer for your summer meals!
Ingredients (for 2)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 2 salad tomatoes
- 4 tbsp fresh basil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt & black pepper
Directions
- Drain the mozzarella from its water and cut it in slices; lay the slices on a serving platter
- Wash, deseed and cut the tomatoes in slices, like the mozzarella
- Lay the slices of tomatoes on top of the mozzarella
- Wash and chop the fresh basil leaves with your hands and sprinkle on top of the tomatoes
- Drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil
- Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper and serve
Tips from the Chef
- Use only fresh basil and premium quality extravirgin olive oil
- For a different presentation, you can use toothpicks and skewer one tomato and one piece of mozzarella cheese on each toothpick
- Try it with buffalo mozzarella for a different twist
