Mousse au Chocolat

Very popular French dessert, can be prepared in advance and refrigerated for up to 2 days...

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 2/3 cup dark chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter


  • Whisk the egg whites with the cream and the sugar until fluffy (use a kitchen mixer for best results)
  • Break the chocolate into pieces and put it in a heat resistant container with the butter and just a little bit of water
  • Place the container in a saucepan, fill the pan with an inch of water and simmer at low heat until chocolate is melted
  • Turn off the heat, pour the chocolate in the pan and stir in the cream and the egg yolks until fully blended
  • Pour into bowls or ramekins and let it cool in the fridge for at least 3 hours
