Mentsuyu is a Japanese sauce used for dipping Soba or Somen noodles and tempura. Can also be used on steamed or boiled vegetables.
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 tbsp sake
- 3 tbsp mirin
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp katsuobushi
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Take a saucepan and add all the ingredients
- Bring slowly to a boil, stirring from time to time, and then remove from heat when it reaches boiling point
- Let the sauce cool completely in the pan
- Strain and discard the Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)
