Mango with Sticky Rice

Super easy delicious Thai dessert, takes some time to soak the rice before cooking, but definitely worth it! For this you will need sticky rice (regular white rice won’t cut the mustard…) and a proper rice steamer or microwave rice cooker…

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1 mango
  • 1 cup sticky rice
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • salt


  • Soak the rice in warm water for one hour (use one cup of water for each cup of rice)
  • Drain the rice and place it in the steamer
  • Cook at medium heat until rice is tender and translucent, which should be about 20 minutes
  • In the meantime, peel and cut the mango into pieces
  • When the rice is ready, arrange it on the serving plate with the mango on the side
  • Heat the coconut milk in a pot, add sugar and a pinch of salt, and stir until it dissolves
  • Gently simmer for a couple of minutes
  • Pour the coconut milk over the rice and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving
