Mackerel on Garlic Bed

If you like a strong garlic taste and you are looking for a healthy recipe that is good for your heart (mackerel can be beneficial for high blood pressure), do not hesitate to try this out! 

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 4 fillets mackerel
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & black pepper


  • Take a small sauce pan and bring some water to boil
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (360° F)
  • Peel and then blanch the garlic cloves in boiling water for 3 minutes
  • In the meantime, grease the bottom of a baking pan with some of the oil (you can use parchment paper instead)
  • Crush the garlic cloves on the bottom of the baking pan
  • Sprinkle a little salt and some pepper inside the mackerel cavities or on top of the fillet
  • Top the garlic bed with mackerels and drizzle the remaining oil and lemon juice over the fish
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes and serve hot!
