Halloween Spooky Peppers

A popular main course recipe for Halloween and very entertaining to prepare with your kids… Not difficult at all, can suit different vegetables and filling combinations!

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1 cup ground beef
  • 1/2 egg
  • 1/2 can tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1/2 garlic clove
  • 1 tsp red Tabasco sauce
  • salt & black pepper

Directions

  • Lightly beat the egg in a large bowl and stir in: onions (minced), garlic (crushed), tomato sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and a few drops of Tabasco
  • Add the ground beef and work the mixture with a spoon until you have a smooth filling
  • Finally add the bread crumbs, salt and pepper, and mix thoroughly
  • Cover with a plastic wrap and set aside
  • Preheat your oven to 350 °F (180 °C)
  • With a sharp knife and keeping a 45° angle, cut off the top of the peppers and scoop out any seeds and cores
  • Gently cut the eyes, noses and smiles into the peppers and lay them on a baking dish, lined with parchment paper
  • Stuff the peppers with the filling, put the tops back on and bake for 45-50 minutes
