Deep Fried Artichokes

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 3 artichokes
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • abundant oil for frying
  • salt


  • Remove the external hard leaves from the artichokes, cut the edge and peel the stem
  • Wash and cut the artichokes into quarters, and set aside
  • Take a bowl and beat the eggs
  • Add cold water and then wheat flour little by little, whisking constantly in order to avoid it to curdle
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan
  • Coat the artichokes with the batter and fry until golden on all sides
  • Then remove with a slotted spoon and place on kitchen paper to absorb any excess oil
  • Sprinkle with salt and serve immediately!
