Crostini are an excellent starter to stop your hunger and the combination of Gorgonzola cheese and walnuts a great classic. Try it out!
Ingredients (for 2)
- 1/2 cup Gorgonzola cheese (Italian blue cheese)
- 4 slices traditional brick oven bread
- 1/4 cup walnuts
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tbsp brandy
- black pepper
Directions
- Put an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 220 °C (400° F)
- Slice your bread not too thin and arrange it in a single layer on a baking sheet
- Spread half of the butter on the top side and put in the oven for 8 minutes, or until light golden
- In the meantime work the remaining butter with the Gorgonzola and with the help of a fork combine together
- Remove the bread from the oven, spread a couple of spoons of the Gorgonzola mixture over each slice, sprinkle some chopped walnuts on top
- Put back in the oven for 2 minutes, or until the Gorgonzola starts to melt and serve warm!

Tips from the Chef
- You can avoid using the brandy if not available and add some honey before serving
- Remove the butter from the fridge some minutes in advance so it is softer to work
