Classic French dessert and a real stunner for your guests, easier to prepare than you might think. Can be prepared in advance and refrigerated for up to 2 days…
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180 C° (350 F°)
- Put the milk, whipping cream and vanilla in a saucepan and bring to boiling point, stirring frequently
- In the meantime, gently mix the egg yolks with sugar in a separate bowl (but do not whisk because it will add air to the mix)
- Add the cream a little at a time and stir to get an even texture
- Pour the cream in oven-safe containers, put them in a roasting pan and add water to the pan until level is about half the height of the cream containers
- Bake for 40 minutes
- Take out the containers, allow them to cool (or refrigerate for later use) and switch the oven to grill mode
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and put back in the oven until sugar has melted and the top is crusty, which should be about 5 minutes
