Chinese Black Pepper Steak

A spicy and strong tasting steak, grilled on your bbq or in a heavy wok. Use crushed black or green peppercorns for a perfect result...

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 2 beef rib-eye steaks
  • 1/4 cup sherry
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions

  • Place the beef steaks in a large bowl
  • Pour all remaining ingredients for the marinade over the meat and toss to coat well
  • Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and marinate for at least 2 hours (ideally overnight)
  • When ready to be served, heat a wok or heavy non stick pan and (when very hot) add the steak
  • Cook over high heat for 2 minutes, or until browned
  • Turn it over and cook for 2 minutes more
  • Turn again, lower heat to medium and cook until you achieve the desired doneness
