Salmon is very easy to prepare and has higher levels of omega 3 fats than most fish. The best thing about preparing fish is that it takes little effort to flavor. A simple chili rub gives this fish a spicy bold flavor that does not overpower its natural taste…
Ingredients (for 2)
- 2 fillets fresh salmon (about 280 gr or 10 oz)
- 1 avocado
- 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp cilantro
- 1 lime
- black pepper
- chili powder as desired
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Directions
- Chop avocado, cilantro and tomato; place into a bowl, squeeze lime juice onto mixture and toss to combine; put aside until needed (may be refrigerated)
- Combine sugar, cumin, oregano, black pepper and chili powder in a bowl
- Use mixture to season fish all over
- Heat oil in a skillet and place salmon into pot; cook for 5 minutes on both sides
- Remove from skillet and serve with salsa
Tips from the Chef
- An alternative to frying is grilling: this will reduce the addition of excess fat and will add a smoky flavor to the fish
