A wonderful and easy recipe with the typical taste of Japan: miso, leeks and sake. Very traditional!
Ingredients (for 2)
- beef flank steaks (about 14 oz or 400 gr)
- 2 tbsp miso paste
- 1 leek
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp sake
- salt
Directions
- Cut the meat in large cubes (1 inch or 2-3 cm)
- Wash and cut the leeks diagonally in ½ inch (about 1 cm) strips
- In a small bowl mix well to combine: miso paste, sugar, sake and salt
- Take a nonstick pan or skillet and heat oil at high heat
- When the oil is hot, add the beef cubes and brown on all sides
- Reduce to medium heat and add the miso mixture; cook for another 5 minutes
- Add the sliced leeks and cook for 5-6 minutes more, or until leeks are tender, and serve immediately
