Banana Bread

A typical bread based recipe, used for breakfast and other occasions… very popular in the US. You will need overripe bananas for best results!

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 °F (180 °C)
  • Lightly grease a baking pan with butter or use parchment paper
  • Take a large bowl and mix together: all purpose flour, baking soda and salt
  • In a separate bowl, mix together butter (at room temperature) and brown sugar with a spoon
  • Beat the eggs in a plate and add them to the sugar mixture
  • Mash the bananas, add them to the sugar mixture and stir until well blended
  • When the mixture is ready, combine it with the flour and mix well
  • Pour the batter into the baking pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until crispy outside
  • Let the bread cool for 10 minutes outside the oven before eating

Tips from the Chef

  • To check if the bread is ready, insert a toothpick into center of the loaf: it should come out clean
  • For best results, use only overripe bananas!
