Baked Spaghetti Casserole

Pasta comes in many shapes and is easy to prepare in many ways. Spaghetti is often served with meatballs; this version embodies the same ingredients in the form of a casserole. This is a great dish for the family, potlucks or gatherings…

Ingredients (for 2)

  • spaghetti (about 180 gr or 6 oz.)
  • 1 cup ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt

Directions

  • Set oven to 350˚F (180 °C) and grease a baking dish (9 x 13 inch)
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil
  • Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite; drain and put aside until needed
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir beef and onion until meat is browned and onions are soft and translucent, about 7 minutes
  • Stir in tomato sauce and seasoned salt
  • Whisk eggs, Parmesan cheese, and butter in a large bowl
  • Mix in spaghetti to egg mixture and toss to coat
  • Place half the spaghetti mixture into baking dish
  • Top with half the cottage cheese, mozzarella, and meat sauce
  • Repeat layers and cover with aluminum foil
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes
  • Remove foil and continue to bake until the cheese is melted and lightly browned, 20 to 25 minutes longer
