American Original Pancakes

The original American pancakes: warm and fluffy, delicious and regenerating! In this version with plain maple syrup and nothing else…

Ingredients (for 2)

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • a pinch of salt
  • maple syrup (as desired)

Directions

  • Take a small sauce pan and melt butter over low heat
  • In a different bowl mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar
  • Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and add the beaten egg
  • Pour the melted butter and milk, and stir well to combine until the mixture is perfectly blended
  • Heat a small nonstick pan over small-medium heat
  • When hot, pour part of the pancake mixture into the pan and spread evenly
  • When the upper side of the pancake is bubbling, turn over with a spatula and cook for 1 minute more; repeat for each pancake
  • Serve hot and pour maple syrup on top!

Tips from the Chef

  • If you want it even faster and easier, just put all ingredients into a blender and mix together
  • Pour enough mixture into the pan to have the right thickness
